Oscar winning actress Hattie McDaniel was born in 1898. She won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role of Mammy in Gone with the Wind.

Frances Lillian Willard "Fannie" Munds was born today in 1866. She was an American suffragist and leader of the suffrage movement within Arizona. After achieving her goal of statewide women's suffrage, she went on to become a member of the Arizona Senate more than five years before ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution granted the vote to all American women.
