Mirra Komarovsky studied the effect of male unemployment in families and conflicts in women’s lives and wrote Women in the Modern World (1953). She was born today in 1905.


Emily Howell Warner

Today in 1973, Emily Howell Warner became the first woman to pilot a (scheduled) US commercial flight. She would later become the first woman airline captain in the United States and the first woman member of the Airline Pilots Association. 


Stacey Abrams

On this day in 2019, she became the first black woman to ever deliver a State of the Union response.
