Selma Burke, a sculptor who was part of the Black Renaissance under Augusta Savage, was born today in 1900. She established the Selma Burke Art Center in the early 1970s.

Disco singer Donna Summer (born LaDonna Adrian Gaines) was born today in 1948. She is most well known for hits like "On the Radio," "Hot Stuff," "Bad Girls," "She Works Hard for the Money," and "Unconditional Love."
