Georgia Neese Clark

Georgia Neese Clark was born today in 1898. She was the first woman Treasurer of the United States, serving from 1949 to 1953.


Leontyne Price

Leontyne Price, a famed soprano, made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City in 1961. Price would become the first African-American to open a concert season there, she performed the role of Leonora in Verdi’s Il Trovatore.
