Marguerite Durand 

Marguerite Durand, a French actress, journalist, leading women’s rights advocate and suffragette, and founder of the feminist newspaper La Fronde (The Slingshot), was born in 1864. The publication was exclusively run by women and advocated for women’s admission to the Bar association.


Doris Haddock

Doris Haddock was born in 1888. An American political activist, she began a walk of over 3,200 miles (5,140 km) across the U.S. advocating for campaign finance reform when she was 88 years old. She completed her walk almost 14 months later at the age of 90.


Indira Gandhi

In 1966, Indira Gandhi was sworn in as the first woman Prime Minister of India. She served as Prime Minister from January 1966 to March 1977 and again from January 1980 until her assassination in October 1984, making her the second longest-serving Indian prime minister after her father.
