Grace Chu

Grace Chu, a cookbook author and teacher, was born today in 1899. She emigrated from Shanghai in 1920 with a scholarship from Wellesley College, taught Chinese cooking, wrote Madame Chu’s Cooking School Cookbook.


Coccinelle

Jacqueline Charlotte Dufresnoy, better known by her stage name Coccinelle, was a French actress, entertainer and singer. She was transgender, and was the first widely publicized post-war gender reassignment case in Europe. She was born today in 1931.
